We all have a favorite burger spot, maybe it’s a drive-through, food cart, fast food or even homemade. But if it’s not Sure Shot, then you might need to give it a try. It’s a delicious classic smash burger spot with only one location at the moment being in Northeast Portland on 42nd Ave.
Open Tuesday-Saturday from 12-7 p.m., Sure Shot is a small food cart tucked between some other restaurants in a courtyard where they get small bands to play sometimes. It definitely gets pretty lively with all that going on in the summer.
They have been around since July of 2020, so they have definitely gotten to know the space. I’m definitely not the only one who thinks their burgers are great. By doing a simple Google search, you can see all the great reviews and even see them being featured in a top 10 burger spots in Portland list, so it’s definitely worth your time to go and give it a try.
They have some different options to choose from so if you’re feeling like getting something simple like a classic single smash burger or maybe you’re feeling a little more hungry, you can go for the double patty. They also have an Impossible cheeseburger as a vegetarian option. In addition to that, they have an option to feed the whole family for just $25, you can get five burgers. Also have options for delicious classic sides like yummy salty fries and crispy chicken nuggets.
I always go for a single classic cheeseburger and a side of fries with their delicious fry sauce. It’s definitely a good spot to go and grab a quick bite with friends and sit outside or take it to go.
On top of all that, what really makes Sure Shot stand out is the quality and consistency. They keep the menu very simple, but everything is done really well. The patties are perfectly crispy on the outside while still juicy inside and the toppings never feel overcomplicated.
The whole experience feels very laid back and local, which fits Portland’s vibe as a whole. It’s the kind of place you can go back to again and again without getting tired of it, whether it’s just for a quick lunch or hanging out for a bit with friends.
Another thing that makes the restaurant even better is how approachable it is for pretty much everyone. The prices are reasonable compared to some other spots, and you usually can get your food pretty quick so you’re not stuck waiting for your food.
It’s also a great introduction to food carts in general if you’re new to Portland since you get the casual outdoor seating along with good quality food. Whether you’re a Portland local or if your family is visiting, it’s one of those places that feels like a hidden gem but definitely lives up to its hype every time.
