Often, I struggle to find shows I want to watch, mainly because it’s more of a commitment to watch compared to a movie. It’s hard to narrow down my options when there are so many to choose from as well.
For this reason, I found three “underrated” series that I think you will like every episode of. To me, these shows are underrated in the sense that only small fandoms have fanned over them, and I think they deserve more attention outside of just small groups.
What We Do in The Shadows (2019)
I was introduced to this show in my middle school Twilight era by my mom. Vampires were my hyper-fixation at the time, and my mom was familiar with this show and said I would like it, which I did, and I think many other vampire or fantasy fans in general would enjoy it as well.
This fantasy comedy TV series follows the life of four vampires who live together on Staten Island, where they have resided for many decades. The leader of the island is a vampire that goes by the name Nandor. As inferred by the many years the vampires have been living with each other, drama occurs. We look into the chaotic lives of energy, day-walker, warrior, and hunter vampires. This series is a mockumentary similar to The Office, where the vampires are being interviewed for a documentary.
I think this show will keep you entertained every episode because it’s fast-paced and chaotic in the best way possible.

Bojack Horseman (2014)
This animated drama series is one of my favorite animated series, and I believe it could be one of yours too if you gave it a chance. I believe this show is worth your time because the show is not only funny but also relatable! This show is set in Hollywood, where we take a look at a past star of a 90s sitcom called Bojack Horseman, who is a humanoid horse. He struggles living in the present because of how much he peaked in his past TV show star days. This show explores the lives of characters living with depression, trauma, addiction, sexuality, and many other things surrounding these.
I like that this show is funny but also brings light to real-life struggles, though the show is hard to take seriously. I personally think there are some great, meaningful and relatable quotes from it. For example, “It gets easier. Every day it gets a little easier. But you gotta do it every day — that’s the hard part. But it does get easier.” from the episode “Jogging Baboon”, which was Episode 12 of Season 2.
If you like a funny yet relatable show, this is the show for you.

Better Call Saul (2022)
Better Call Saul is the perfect American legal crime drama series to watch if you loved Breaking Bad. Breaking Bad is one of my all time favorite shows. The plot and characters all feel so thought through and every episode left me wanting to watch more. It took me a lot of recommendations and reviews to start it, but it was so worth it, and so is Better Call Saul.
Better Call Saul is actually the spin-off of Breaking Bad. Overall, it’s slower in comparison and goes more into the background on how some of the main characters in Breaking Bad got where they are now. The main focus is, of course, the one and only Jimmy McGill famously known as Saul Goodman, who is an attorney trying to make his name known in the world of lawyering. Jimmy goes through many trials and errors throughout the process, and it is very entertaining watching all the unique ways he finds himself out of these rough situations he gets through. The more you watch, the better it gets.
I feel like with some shows, especially spinoffs, the plot doesn’t get much better, but this show is much different and adds a lot more depth to the show Breaking Bad. This spin off is so good that it has been questioned if it is better than Breaking Bad.

Thank you for reading the fourth piece in my awesome underrated series. I hope someone can take away something useful from this column. I know personally that it can be hard to try out new recommendations outside of your comfort shows, but I am here to say it is so worth it, especially because that is how I found these gems.
