Spring is now here, and if you need some recommendations for movies to watch, you have come to the right place. These movies get us out of the cold and warm us up for spring sunshine and rain! There’s a movie choice for everyone, whether you prefer romantic comedies or adventure. These are a few of my favorite movies that I love to watch around springtime!

10 Things I Hate About You (1999)
10 Things I Hate About You is a perfect spring movie choice! It was released Mar. 31, 1999, the perfect time for a feel-good spring movie. The movie is a great choice because it focuses on two different stories. I think it makes the movie more interesting to be able to watch two different perspectives. 10 Things I Hate About You is set during the end of the school year, which makes it exciting to watch this time of year.
The movie is about two sisters, Kat and Bianca Stratford, played by Larisa Oleynik and Julia Stiles. Bianca has an admirer, Cameron, played by Joseph Gordon Levitt, who is really trying to get with her. Unfortunately, their father has a rule where Bianca can’t have a boyfriend until Kat does because he thinks Bianca won’t get a boyfriend, knowing her personality. Kat doesn’t quite attract many guys so Cameron makes a plan with the new kid, Patrick, played by Heath Ledger, to get her to go out with him. Drama ensues, and it doesn’t go quite as planned.
I love the couples in this movie; it’s so fun to watch their different dynamics. Patrick and Kat are quite different from Cameron and Bianca. The end-of-year prom and the weather really give off spring vibes in this movie. A very popular scene in the movie is when Kat and Patrick play paintball in the warm weather. I think it’s a very cute and fun scene, and it’s also one of my favorites. This is a perfect romantic comedy to watch this spring season. It is loosely based on the Shakespeare play The Taming of the Shrew.

She’s the Man (2006)
She’s the Man is another very famous spring movie; it was released on Mar. 17, 2006, and is set during soccer season in the spring. Similar to 10 Things I Hate About You, it is also based on a Shakespeare play, Twelfth Night. This movie is a great choice to watch because it’s an amazing romantic comedy, and it’s a very funny movie that lots of people tend to like. The characters are very enjoyable to watch, and I like how the weather is portrayed in the movie; it really brings me out of the winter blues.
The movie starts with Viola Hastings, played by Amanda Bynes, who just wants to play soccer; unfortunately, her school team cut girls’ soccer and is not letting her play for the boys. Viola then chooses to dress up like her brother, Sebastian, played by James Kirk, and play soccer at his boarding school. She has to pretend to be a boy and make the team while dealing with her roommate, Duke, played by Channing Tatum, whom she ends up falling for. Viola works hard to keep up the act until her brother suddenly comes back to school.
This is one of my favorite movies ever. I rewatch it all the time and never get over it. Viola and Duke are so fun to watch, and the jokes they make throughout this movie are very funny. One of my favorite scenes is the one where they are at a restaurant, and Viola is pretending to be her brother, and Sebastian’s crazy girlfriend shows up, and Viola has to run from her. It’s a very funny scene, and I think this movie is very enjoyable, so you should consider watching it.

A Bug’s Life (1998)
A Bug’s Life, released on Nov. 14, 1998, is one of the perfect choices for a spring movie; it is a very funny movie about a group of bugs trying to survive by gathering food during spring and summer for the grasshoppers and themselves. This movie came out on the older side rather than newer, but it is still definitely a top choice. The comedy mixed in with the story is very entertaining, and Flik is very fun to watch interact with the other bugs.
The movie begins with an ant, Flik, voiced by Dave Foley, trying to show off his new invention to the other ants. He accidentally ends up destroying the ant colony’s food offering to the big bad grasshoppers, who then show up and yell at them to get them their food. Flik tells the ants that they should fight back and goes out to look for other warrior bugs to help. He ends up finding a group of bugs who aren’t exactly what he thought they were, and has to try to keep the secret from the other ants and defend themselves from the grasshoppers.
I watched A Bug’s Life growing up, and it’s one of my favorite spring movies. The group of bugs he finds are very interesting, and watching them interact with the ants is super fun. The movie is a good spring choice because it’s when the ants are trying to find their food before the rain comes, and they have to take cover. A Bug’s Life gives off so many spring vibes, making this the perfect movie choice.
These are just three of many spring movies you should check out. 10 Things I Hate About You and She’s the Man are more romantic comedies, and A Bug’s Life is more adventurous and about friendship. All three are amazing comedy movies to watch this spring that you should definitely check out!
