Letters to the Editor
We welcome your insights and opinions, and as a public forum, encourage readers to write letters to the editor, more informally seen as responses to the content of The Oracle. They can be curiosities, criticisms or compliments to something we published.
Letters to the Editor will be labeled as such, and published in our Opinion section, at the discretion of student editors, who have full editorial oversight over what is published on our website and in our newspaper. We have the right and responsibility to edit or condense for brevity and clarity, and will let the writer know prior to publishing what changed. We do not permit libel or written defamation of any kind. We will consider submissions from anyone within our community: students, staff members, administrators, parents and community partners. Please submit your writing in an email to [email protected].
Please keep your letters to the editor under 300 words and include your name, contact information and connection to the school, since those will be published as well.
Guest Contributions
We encourage readers to be a part of the storytelling and truth telling process.
If you have a topic that you think needs to be covered on or a tip for something to report on, please email us or reach out to us on one of our social media accounts. We cannot promise that all submissions will make it to publications, yet we will do our best to take into consideration community voice.
Also, if you are interested in submitting your own writing (commentary, article, photo/video, piece of creative writing, comics, art) that directly connects to McDaniel or the McDaniel community, please submit those to [email protected]. We will consider submissions from anyone within our community: students, staff members, administrators, parents and community partners.
Please keep written submission between 400 and 600 words, and remember that publishing is at the discretion of student editors, who have full editorial oversight over what is published on our website and in our newspaper. We have the right and responsibility to edit or condense for brevity and clarity, and will let the writer know prior to publishing what changed. Please remember, we do not permit libel or written defamation of any kind.
